The first cats of Boulderclan were traveller's looking for a place to settle down. They traversed the treacherous terrain of the looming mountains, and when they lost any hope that the mountains would ever end, they found the valley. Brimming with luscious grass and forests, the cats had found their own safe haven. The valley was secluded, bordered by the sea to the north and more mountains to the East and farther out West, and could provide the cats with everything they needed to survive. After they arrived and scoped out the land, exploring the ups and downs to the valley, they found that there were other cats living their too, some were traveller's like themselves and others were simply loners living off the land. These cats decided to band together and as they did they found that more cats flocked to the valley and eventually, as the group grew, Boulderclan was formed.
Grasslands and dense forests, both deciduous and coniferous, make up a large portion of the clan's territory and give them a large abundance and variety of prey to hunt. Boulderclan's camp is located on a jut of land surrounded by two large rivers. The forest in which the camp is located in is made up of mostly, oak, maple, and hickory trees and a particularly large Oak tree that stands by itself, later named Lone Oak, and serves as a meeting place just outside of the camp where all clan meetings take place. To the East - East Pines, the second largest forest in the valley and made up of solely pine and evergreen trees is located on what the clan cat's call the Eastlands. The only way to reach the Eastlands is from the Mainland - the piece of land the Boulderclan camp is on. There is a small piece of separated earth in the middle of the East river that the cats use to travel back and forth from the Eastlands to the Mainland. Though it can be quite dangerous to cross the river and for this reason only warriors venture out that way for patrols. Deadgrove is a cluster of dead trees and land that was believed to have been scorched by a forest fire many moons ago, long before the arrival of Boulderclan. There is not much to do or see here and more vermin live here than anything else. The rest of the Eastlands is made up of Rolling Hills, a large expanse of hills that seem to roll out towards the edge of the land to the sea. There are many rabbit dens here which make these hills the hotspot for rabbit hunting. To the West - West Pines , the largest forest in the valley, once again consisting of only pines and evergreens, can be reached from the Mainland through The Pass. This forest is used most frequently by the clan and it is also where most apprentice training takes place. The North Forest, or more commonly named Fox Forest, is located just North of West Pines. This coniferous got it's name from the fiery-furred residents who have claimed it. The family of foxes have resided in the North Forest far longer than Boulderclan has and the cats have just made sure to steer clear of their domain and have lived in peace with them for quite some time. |
